The Liebherr R 920 crawler excavator is available in less regulated markets such as Southeast Asia, India, China, Russia and South Africa. It has been specially developed for use in earthmoving, digging and drainage/sewerage work.
This 21-t machine is powered by a 110 kW Cummins diesel engine that meets the Stage IIIA / Tier 3 / China III emissions standards. The six-cylinder common rail system is also compatible with diesel with high sulphur content or with biodiesel B20, thus ensuring greater performance and reliability over the long term.
The R 920 has a 7-in touchscreen display and large windows to give the operator an excellent view of the working environment. The optimised Positive Control hydraulic system makes the combined movements of the machine even more fluid, which in turn increases the breakout forces and breakaway torques.
Other highlights of the R 920 include robust travel mechanism, Liebherr Z tooth system for attachments, and the optional backhoe bucket in a heavy-duty version - all of which ensure long and efficient use of the machine.
The R 920 is also designed for easy maintenance. For instance, the components to be serviced can be easily accessed from the ground. The automatic central lubrication system is installed as standard and leads to increased productivity resulting from time savings.
In addition to the R 920, Liebherr offers R 922 and R 924 crawler excavators with operating weights of 22 t (110 kW) and 24 t (125 kW) respectively.
A 920 Litronic wheeled excavator
Liebherr’s new A 920 Litronic wheeled excavator is also targeted at less regulated markets. It is powered by a Stage IIIA / Tier III / China III engine (129 kW). The machine has an operating weight of 20,300 kg and is ideal for construction sites with a high travel requirement, including road construction, trenching and pipeline construction, as well as classic earthmoving work.
The A 920 Litronic can move on its own axis to the next construction site, thereby saving transport costs. Thanks to the rubber tyres, the ground is protected and the machine can be moved to the next operation site with low noise.
If the Likufix hydraulic coupling system is added, then quick and safe changeover of hydraulic attachments can be done from the cab at the touch of a button. This not only extends the versatility of the machine and increases its productivity, but also results in safety on the construction site because there is nobody in the danger zone during the tool change. Moreover, the tool wear is reduced, as the operator can switch to the right tool for the respective task quickly and simply.
For easy maintenance, all components to be serviced are clearly positioned on the right-hand side of the machine, can be comfortably accessed from the ground and are easy to reach thanks to the large, wide-opening service doors. Liebherr hydraulic oils have a very long life, allowing longer change intervals, thus saving time and money.
The two excavators were recently exhibited at bauma China 2018 in Shanghai.
