Foundation contractors appointed for One Bangkok project

TCC Assets and Frasers Property have appointed Thai Bauer, the local subsidiary of Bauer Spezialtiefbau, and Seafco as foundation contractors for the first phase of One Bangkok development, working in coordination with project and construction manager, Stonehenge Inter.

One Bangkok is a 120-billion-bath landmark development featuring five premium Grade A office towers, five luxury and lifestyle hotels, three ultra-luxury residential towers, four distinctive retail zones, a cultural hub and performance centre, as well as 8 ha of green areas and open spaces. Developed by a joint venture of TCC Assets and Frasers Property, it is said to be the largest private sector property development initiative ever undertaken in Thailand that will set new benchmarks in design, quality and sustainability.

“With decades of in-market experience, Thai Bauer and Seafco have outstanding track records in complex special foundation works in Thailand,” said Burin Kunatippapong, construction director of Frasers Property Holdings (Thailand) Co Ltd. “We have appointed two foundation contractors due to the large size of the first phase of One Bangkok, ensuring that this development is of the highest quality construction from inception, shaped with utmost care for the city, the environment and people.”

As part of the large-scale permanent underground works, Thai Bauer and Seafco will install more than 2,500 bored piles down to a depth of 80 m. They will also construct a diaphragm wall measuring over 1.5 km long at a depth of 35 m, which will form the structure of the basement levels for the development. This work will be supervised closely by Stonehenge Inter.

According to the developers, the project will be carried out according to LEED Platinum level, which stipulates strict rules and extremely high standards when it comes to environmental aspects. Logistics innovations include concrete batching plants and centralised procurement on-site, to ensure constant supply of concrete and steel.

The specialist engineering foundation works are now under way, with the development’s first components slated for opening in 2022.
